Adriaan's top tips: Make a loop in one end of the rope with the tail of the loop on top. Grab the other end of the rope, lead it under the loop, over the loop, under the tail, over the loop, under itself and over the loop. Tighten to get a symmetrical figure. Keep tightening to capsize the knot, and that’s a carrick bend! Can you tie a carrick bend?
